Volleyball can be played indoors or outdoors at the MAC on one of our state of the art gym set ups or on our two premium sand courts located next to our outdoor pools.  Clinics and private lessons are offered year round for both beach and indoor play.

Coed Beach 4 v 4: Offered Summer session only. These Leagues/ Tournaments are for beginner to intermediate level players.  Format for the league is round robin, rally score, match play with a season ending tournament to determine an overall winner. These leagues have an eight team minimum to run. League dates are weeks of  6/14/11- 8/15/11.

Tournament format is round robin play with a single elimination playoff at the end of the day to determine the winner. Tournaments are to be run June- Sept 2011 , dates TBA.

Mens/Womens 2 v 2 Beach Tournaments; These Tournaments are designed for the advanced player, format is round robin play with a single elimination playoff at the end of the day to determine the winner. Tournaments are to be run June- Sept 2011, dates TBA.

Beginning to intermediate league fees are: Members $35/person, Guests $70/person.  Advanced league fees for 6 on 6 are: Members $240/team, Guests $300/team. Tournament fees for 2 v 2 & 4 v 4 are: Members $30/team, Guests $40/team.

USAV Beach Volleyball Coaching Certification Clinic

Beach Volleyball is here! With the surge in popularity of the beach game and the addition of Sand Volleyball to the NCAA Emerging Sport List for Women, the need for highly qualified beach volleyball coaches has grown rapidly. This introductory coaching clinic will cover the technical and strategic differences between the beach and indoor disciplines, and how to design a beach practice for different group sizes. Participants should be prepared to partake in on-court drills. Clinic counts as a module for CAP.

Beach Coaches Clinic: May 29, 2010, 4-7pm, Grand Haven, MI.

Cost: $50 USAV members, $60 non-members

USA VOLLEYBALL BEACH HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM-

Girls and boys ages 14-25

Each tryout will include 4-6 hours of beach time where athletes strive to be selected for the USA Youth and Junior Beach National Team; Select, Youth, and Junior High Performance Teams (Junior A2), or U-26/Senior A2 Team. Athletes are evaluated and ranked based on the entire tryout population from across the country.

Beach High Performance Tryout: May 30, 2010, 9am-4pm, Grand Haven, MI

Cost: $65 for USAV members and $70 for non-members. Athletes may attend more than one tryout.

USAV BEACH DEVELOPMENT CAMP – girls and boys ages 12-18

Three-day grassroots camp for boys and girls ages 12-18 and are designed to teach all levels of beach volleyball athletes. The camp will be led by USAV Beach Department staff and select athletes and coaches from the AVP and FIVB tours.

Beach Development Camp: July 7-9, 2010, 9:30am – 4:30pm, Grand Haven, MI

The cost is $250 per camper. Space is limited so sign up early!

PEE WEE BEACH CAMP – boys and girls age 7-12

Great introduction to beach volleyball for young players!

PeeWee Beach Camp: July 7-9, 2010, half days, Grand Haven, MI

Cost is $125 for current USAV members and $145 for non-members.

The Lakeshore Region Volleyball Association will host two sessions of sand volleyball doubles for both boys and girls teams ages 12-18.

• Boys and girls divisions will be held on Tuesdays and a coed division will be held on Thursdays
• Divisions will be formed based on age and ability.
• Play both days in any session and get $10 off per team.
• Space is limited, so sign up early. Lakeshore sunglasses for each player!
• Some introductory training will be given in the beginning of the session.
• Guaranteed at least 3 games to 21 pts each week, play starts at 6 pm.

Well the time has come to pass the torch.  Over the last couple of years I’ve had less and less time to properly update the volleyball website.  People have sent me volleyball info and updates and I kept finding I never got around to posting the information until after the event occurred.  Ouch!  The Lansingvolleyball site is really in need of some fresh material and enthusiasm and I need to get back to _playing_ volleyball!

Karthik Ramadoss, fellow volleyball player and volleyball enthusiast, has offered to take over the website duties.  He will be working with MARVA head Tim Salinas to give the site a fresh look and added functionality that I think you will all enjoy.  For the next few days you may find the domains Lansingvolleyball.com and/or MarvaVB.org offline while the domains get transferred to a new server, but rest assured they will be back!  Karthik will be revamping ‘er over good come January.
